Parenting Coordination

Parenting Coordination is a form of alternative dispute resolution. It tries to help high conflict families resolve parenting disputes, without further intervention of a court.

Parenting coordination is not mediation, but it incorporates many of the same principles to help the parties manage parenting conflicts. Like mediation, parenting coordination is a process that provides parents with the best opportunity to resolve their disputes by agreement, rather than through the adversarial process.

However, parenting coordination inserts the additional element of giving the parenting coordinator the authority to either make non-binding recommendations as to how conflicts should be resolved or to actually resolve those disputes through a Binding Recommendation.

Parenting coordination is, for the most part, a nonadversarial process. The goal of the parties is to work through their differences in order to come to a solution that both parties can live with.
